Some stuff
So what on earth has been happening to me over the past 3 months? I have a duty to inform my fans (thats you Mr.Breeze). Well I have met the most wonderful girl on the world which partly explains my lack of updates on this here facility for spouting waffle. The only drawback to the situation is that Erica lives in the US which makes a lot of couple based activities hard to partake in. She will be here in 4 days though! I feel like the luckiest man in the world. Current Mood: optimisticCurrent Music: Ben Folds - Gone | | Saturday, August 27th, 2005 | | 6:46 pm |
My immune system lets me, work, down
You know how they say that buses always come along in threes? (they being disgruntled people who have poor time perception). Well, I've had 2 illnesses in a week, barely 2 weeks after I was awarded my 100% attendance certificate from my employers. Typical...bloody typical (by the way this entry is rated PG and should not have been read by the under 12's). Neither should they come anywhere near me. Its best for all. 3000 posts passed! Get in. Weddings, travelling and Horatio.D Howell's triumph over adversity
Ah, twas a tumultuous weekend! Myself and the old Chepstow gang attended a wedding of one of our circle members, Mr D Stickland. We all managed to fit into high society quite seemlessly for around about 9 hours at the reception. There was a scary moment when Dave mentioned something about his old outdoor lavatory but he was talking to Paul at the time. So is my understanding (which may well be fictional). The best moment of the day was when Dave (under the alias Horatio D Howell) won the 'how long will all the speeches be' competition. Congratulations sir. The last 2 weeks
Several things have happened of significance over the past 14 days or so:- 1) Laura broke a table at the Boat 2) Mr Breeze left for China (he is commmunist!) 3) Me and James BEAT strangers in straight sets at doubles tennis 4) I passed the 2000 posts count on the Benfolds.org Of these 4 things, number 4 is the most important. I'm currently reading a book about Liechtenstein's quest for the 2002 world cup by Charlie Connelly (lent to me by that bloke who went to Russia or something). Good book it is...I thought I would share a funny story from it. The Liechtenstein army (80 strong) left to fight in World War 2 and returned with one extra solider. They made a friend on the way back. If I've spelt Liechtenstein wrong, I don't care. Remember, Mr.Breeze, as Homer Simpson once said 'Oh everything works in theory, in theory communism works, in theory' Current Mood: contentCurrent Music: The Stills | | Thursday, June 23rd, 2005 | | 11:05 pm |
Mr Breeze seems to have an obsession with the IWC and such things. I know that he enjoyed Moby Dick, but had no idea that he was so involved with all things Whale. What was he doing at Marlborough House? Advocating cigarette usage?! The pomposity of it....I am shocked an appalled. I must question him about these matters if our paths should ever cross again. I wonder if he listens to James Whale? Current Mood: Whales?Current Music: Coldplay - Talk | | Saturday, June 18th, 2005 | | 9:07 pm |
Scorchio! What better day to play tennis than today? Its probably somewhere around 75 or 80F so tennis had to be played. It was going well (me against Jon) until a random bloke took offence to my parking position which was in the street that leads to the courts. Threatened to phone the police he did - even though my parking position wasn't sign posted as prohibited. In the end we argued with him and said that the car would be moved, but also that he should apologise for threatening us. He did. It made me feel like a big man. The system works, Dave. | | Monday, June 13th, 2005 | | 2:34 pm |
As I sit here speaking to Mr Stead on my rota day off from work, I'm wondering why people always think working is such a bad thing. I'm so bored. Steado is providing some light relief from the monotony of a Monday afternoon spent doing nowt. However, as per usual, it is me who is instigating any conversation - that ultimately leaves me with a feeling of ambiguity as to whether Matthew is it all bothered that I'm speaking to him. Folds & Bristol
Well, well, well. And other assorted water containing devices (i.e flasks, buckets and cans) How many can you think of? As this is my first entry I really should make some effort and tell and interesting story - and so I will! On Friday I went to Southampton to see Mr Ben Folds play live at the Guilds Hall - if you don't know who he is you really should make the effort to find out, or, alternatively, skip this segment of todays news. I took the train down to Southampton...I'm not really that good with public transport (I get confused and paranoid) so the fact that I got there with 4 hours to spare was a minor miracle(Ok, maybe I'm overstating the level of achievement there). I must say I was impressed with the standard of the rail system but there seemed to be an awful lot of people going from Bristol to Bath. Why? What WERE they doing? Anyhoo, on to the more interesting stuff. Ben Folds is not a particularly big star in this country (or anywhere else really) but he does get enough of a following to be deemed 'popular'. In any case, he's someone I really think a lot of as a musician and a lyricist. I decided to get to Southampton early so that I might catch him entering or exiting the building. Guess what? I did. About 6.15 myself and my good friend Tom were sitting outside the hall when a rather non-descript silver Mitsubishi drove in in a hurry. Ben was in the passenger seat with a 'I'm late and I have to do my soundchecks' face. There were about 20 dedicated fans outside the building so I seized the opportunity to gather around Ben and he turned to me, signed my ticket (which DIDN'T invalidate it - a joke I made to the lady checking tickets later which didn't go down to well) and he also made a joke which I can't remember. Still, I got to within an inch of him, so I'm happy. The show itself was great, but I shan't bore you with the details. Phone me or something...go on. Yesterday was also an eventful day, by my standards. Met up with Paul in Bristol and went for a few drinks before heading to a pub to see Jon's band. Met some of Paul's 'new' friends who were a very nice bunch of people. One guy was from Sunderland but I didn't have any Alan Partridge moments with the accent (I.e 'you've gone again'). I also scored a scorching volley with Rooney on PES (highlight of the day). I'm off to wonder what the hell to do with my Sunday....until 24 is on anyway. Stupid lack of football.
